Welcome to The Motorcycle Garden! Can a beginner mechanic buy a basket case, 43-year-old motorcycle for $1,000, rebuild it from scratch, and survive a 10,000+ km overland expedition from the wilds of Alaska to the jungles of Belize? Let’s find out! This channel is about building and repairing motorcycles, personal growth, and transformation of man and machine. As a cancer survivor and a recently sober rider, I’m converting an unused garden sunroom into a minimalist workshop to rebuild two things simultaneously: a legendary 1983 Yamaha XT550, as I improve my physical health and well being. Follow along as we take things one day, one mile, and one wrench turn at a time. The Route: Alaska to Belize with passage through Yukon Territory, British Columbia, West Coast and Southwestern United States and Mexico including Baja California The Goal: Find and build the bike, Train the body, Learn new skills, Explore the world and Give back wherever and whenever possible!
