Meeting fellow principal leaders from the United Opposition as we continue the work of bringing our different political formations together around a common national purpose. Today’s sermon, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mathare Constituency, spoke on the importance of doing what is right and the consequences we face for doing what is wrong. The pursuit of political and electoral ambitions, should be through peaceful coexistence across political affiliations. Division and violence should not drive campaigns, let us stick to ideas and values. Kenya is home to all of us, and our democracy is stronger when competition is fair and the voter’s choice is respected

Today at the KEWOPA Women’s & Youth Political Leadership Convention, I reflected on a journey that began with a young girl in Kirinyaga watching a magistrate in a courtroom and imagining herself in that position. I could not have known then how difficult the journey would be, or how many times I would have to prove that I belonged in rooms where women were not always expected. Today, my responsibility is to make sure those who come after us do not have to fight the same battles just to be heard.

The PLP family continues to grow, and today in Kirinyaga we strengthened the movement we are building.
