Rambled more than i would have liked but i agree with Van @Higher Learning Podcast and wanted to add to it. If you dont feel like watching, biggest points i was tryna make are 1) capitalism isnt just money. It’s a economic system AND a system of ideas, values, ways of being/knowing, philosophies etc. 2) capitalism makes certain ideas seem natural and obvious that aren’t actually natural and are only obvious because it is beneficial to the system, not the community #money #capitalism #black #high

Great book. Often heavy in a sad way but ultimately hopeful. Author recounts her life and struggles of displacement, miscarriages and alcoholism and their affects on relationships as she awaits the birth of her first child who is born via surrogate. One of my favorite books from one of my favorite thinkers. “Enjoyment Right & Left” by Todd McGowan. Mix of philosophy, psychoanalysis and politics. A bit academicky but he gives great clear examples, which helps clear up confusion. I also think he gets at something i intuitively think is true but didnt have the words for.
