Replying to @AG If your dream is to serve your country and fly military aircraft, I have nothing but respect for that path. You’ll have experiences, leadership opportunities, and missions that most airline pilots will never get to experience. But this video is looking at one thing only: the financial side. A lot of people comment, “Why not just let the military pay for your flight training?” Here’s the tradeoff: Military pilots typically owe a long service commitment after earning their wings.

A raw look at what a random Friday night can look like as an airline pilot. I’m currently on D reserve, which means I’m on call from 5 p.m. to midnight. At 5:00 p.m., scheduling called and gave me a report time of 7:20 p.m. By 6:06 p.m., I was out the door and headed to the airport for a red-eye.
