We want our penguins to put their best feet forward every day. That's why we do frequent observations of their foot health! Birds are prone to small abrasions that can lead to a condition called "bumblefoot", which responds well to treatment if caught early. Jye is getting nifty enrichment in honor of his special day. Today is Clouded Leopard Day! Branches to shred, boxes to tear open and even a frozen watermelon to wrestle. Fun foraging aside, today is about raising awareness about this vulnerable species. The population of clouded leopards is believed to have declined by over 30% in the last 20 years, largely due to habitat loss and poaching.
