In this sharp and satirical tale, Strepsiades, an Athenian overwhelmed by debt from a poor marriage and a reckless son, seeks out the infamous Socrates at the Thinking Shop to learn the art of clever rhetoric. His goal? To outsmart his creditors in court. However, Socrates, portrayed as a cunning and irreverent sophist, struggles to teach the dim-witted Strepsiades but manages to impart some tricks to his son, Phidippides. Ultimately, this play serves as a witty critique of the clash between traditional values and modern thinking, poking fun at the old ways. - Summary by Expatriate
