At just 23, Gyp, the daughter of ex-Major Charles Claire Winton, finds herself swept into the world of music and romance when she marries Fiorsen, a Swedish violin virtuoso. Raised in isolation by her British father, Gyps sheltered upbringing is shattered as her father attempts to introduce her to society. When an attack of gout sends him to Wiesbaden for treatment, Gyp accompanies him and encounters the magnetic allure of Fiorsen and his enchanting performances. As a highly sensitive and musically gifted young woman, she is initially captivated by the violinists charm, but her father quickly sees through Fiorsens unstable and vain nature. As Gyp grapples with the realization that she may have made a grave mistake in marrying him, the story unfolds to reveal the complexities of love, ambition, and self-discovery. (Simon Evers)
