How gorgeous is this? Love this recreation by Katherine Garrett Kirk of one of my favourite patterns from the Lady’s Magazine. This one is from 1775. It is for a work bag and you can see it and 200 others on my website Patterns of Perfection. #embroidery #georgian #needlework #ladysmag #dresshistory

Had some really lovely feedback today from an article I wrote for Embroidery Canada (published a few weeks back) about domestic embroidery in the eighteenth century and the patterns in the Lady’s Magazine. Still have to pinch myself that I get to work in this area and connect with so many talented makers. #needlework #embroidery #dresshistory #womenshistory #georgian

Christmas decs #ladysmagazine style. Hoping to make 10 of these for friends and family. A commuter-friendly sewing project adapted from the crown design of a bonnet pattern in the 1812 Lady’s Magazine. #dresshistory #georgian #regency #sewing #embroidery #needlework #eighteenth century #nineteenthcentury #womenshistory

I love the vertical gown designs, but also my very sorry for itself leave sprig repeat. Both are from 179
