I'm making Arwen's butterfly crown for the second time! For budget and availability reasons, rather than silver I'm using brass and copper, and then nickel plating it. Right now I'm working on adding the beads and then painting some of the details with yellow and green stained-glass paint.

A few days ago I completed a commission project to make a belt and brass medallion for a Hercules cosplayer. The medallion was built from hand-sawn 1/8" brass plate and soldered together. There are four threaded studs on the back for mounting. The belt is veg-tan leather, layered and stitched at the center to accommodate the medallion.

Q1 Tell us who you are and what you’ve been doing these last couple of weeks.
A1: I'm Matt, a maker from Chicagoland! I drifted away from Mastodon for a bit, but I'm back if you'll have me. For the last couple of weeks I've been working on several (and completing a couple) commission projects for metal and leather cosplay accessories.

My brother-in-law is a big Nirvana fan, and I got his name in this year's secret Santa. So one of his gifts was this brass and steel ornament based on the In Utero cover art. I cut, etched, soldered, and polished it over the course of about 3-4 days.

Packing up another batch of Strider buckles to send out. I never get tired of making these.
I might be building another crown for a commission soon, so I started noodling around in Blender to figure out how I might do it. I used a model I already had as the base shape and... I kind of love this?
