Amusingly, the Binding of Isaac actually has an excellent kids co-op mode, but, you know, it's R-rated gory violent horrifying pitch black Binding of Isaac. Game designers, I'm throwing down the gauntlet: give me a super easy mode; wonky 1.5 player co-op two player mode where player 2 can be close to the action but surplus to requirements; and let's keep it clean. Other games with excellent co-op modes that struggle with 'dad co-op': Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge has a nice co-op feature where players dragging their feet get pulled along by the leading player, however, the game get… Mario Kart World and its assist modes (auto accelerate, steering and item usage) is an obvious win, but when playing as a family we still need to massively hold back so the CPU's rubber band around us and little man can still have some fun… Besides being kid-friendly, both games generally let one player do most of the work. Luigi's Mansion has a few areas with mandatory Gooigi sections that are actually pretty challenging so annoying controller swapping is still required occa… I've never really seen the point of the Tails mode before this. Presumably it was just an easy thing to throw in so the second controller could do something, but it's nowhere near a 'proper' co-op. This whole thing is probably just a happy… The only thing getting 'stuck to' was the model to my fingers.
