The Mac SE/30 I picked up a couple weeks ago rides again. When I was a kid, I was fascinated by how the pixels on the family Mac formed the windows and icons that made that brilliant UI. I'd spend hours digging thru ResEdit, trying to figure it all out.
The guy who made all of that happen was a Phd student, and brilliant programmer, recruited to join Apple in the late 70s. I knew him from the self-portrait icon he hid in his apps. His name was Bill Atkin

Android Auto in a 2003 Saab 93?!
Today I setup email on my Newton MessagePad 2000 from 1993, so I could send myself notes from class, and I retrofit an Android Auto install on a 2003 Saab 93, via a Raspberry Pi. I feel like I've earned my geek cred for the month!

On a business trip to Kentucky, picked up a SE/30 for a friend. It was held together by string, and full of dust, but amazingly, the battery had *not* exploded -- even though its got the original 1989 date on it!
